River Forest’s 2018 Recycling event was a success, in no small part due to the RFCC’s contributions. We helped to managed hundreds of cars entering the event and collected up to 30lbs in expired prescription meds. A special thanks to all of the volunteers that help out!!
The Tripcom MRC will be taking part in a Point of Distribution equipment exercise on May 9th at Concordia University. The event will begin at 9:00am and continue for a few hours.
The intention of this event is not to run a full exercise, but instead to familiarize volunteers and community members with all of the gear needed to establish a POD.
A Point of Distribution, or POD, is where the public goes to pick up emergency supplies following a disaster. The need for a POD is based on lack of infrastructure to support normal distribution of food, water, or other supplies. More information can be found here.
More information will be posted here when it becomes available.
*UPDATE*: Electronics will be collected at the Recycling Extravaganza !
The RFCC will be supporting the River Forest Recycling Extravaganza scheduled to begin at 9:00am on April 21st, 2018. The event will be taking place on Thatcher Avenue, across the street from the Depot. We’ll be providing traffic management and staffing the prescription drop-off tent.
Anyone that would like to volunteer for the event is encouraged to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 312.550.6600. Thank you!
More information about the event can be found here.
The River Forest Citizen Corps (RFCC) works to coordinate volunteer activities to make the River Forest community safer, stronger & better prepared to respond to any emergencies
The RFCC is composed of two groups: the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the Triple Community Medical Reserve Corps (Tripcom MRC). The CERT’s goal is to train citizens to be better prepared to respond to emergencies, while the MRC works to improve the health and safety of their communities. The Tripcom MRC serves the three neighboring Cook County communities of River Forest, Forest Park and Elwood Park.
We are always looking for new volunteers, so please let us know if you’re interested in joining!
